A few words from Thelma

My inspiration and love for food stem from the love and joy of sharing food experiences with my mother and the rest of my family.  My mother’s recipes are fantastic, but it is her smile and goodwill that has made her food legendary with all those lucky enough to share a table with her.  Her recipes are the only ones I try to not “make my own” by changing or updating with my own flare.

Although my mom’s cooking is the base of my cooking, I add a new layer of flavors and food combinations with every interesting food experience I bring home from my travels around the world.

I have a degree in Architecture, not in the culinary arts.   My involvement in theme park design has taken me to many parts of the world that I would not have considered when planning an overseas vacation.  However, these places have also given me incredible food experiences.  I cannot bring my loved ones with me when I travel.  Instead, I can bring my travels to them in the form of new flavors.

My kitchen is a place where my culture and my 20 years of travels merge into new flavor combinations that can only be described as “Thelma’s cooking”.  I love to walk in the kitchen and be inspired by what is found in the refrigerator and pantry to create something new with every meal.  I consider every plate a canvas and I like to think of every dish as a work of art.

My YouTube channel, “COOK WITH THELMA”  welcomes you to my kitchen to cook with me, using what is available in your own kitchen.

My first cookbook, “Cook with Thelma” invites you to try some of my recipes and encourages you to “make them your own”!  This book will be available in the Spring of 2021.
